The North Iowa Athletic Complex is getting some upgrades this summer. The North Iowa School Board previously approved a resurfacing project for the track, and at its June 15 meeting, the board approved a new, larger pad for the high jump.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig made a stop in Winnebago County on Tuesday, Jun. 16, when he spoke to the Forest City Rotary Club during their weekly meeting at Salveson Hall at Waldorf University.

The Forest City Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking dedicated individuals who have a passion for public libraries and the ability to advocate for them. The board is looking to fill two current openings for trustees who will serve 6-year terms in a volunteer/unpaid position.
Bethany Warren of Forest City was named to the Wartburg College 2026 Winter/May Term Dean's List. The college recognized 507 students for Winter/May Term.
The list honors students who earned a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or above in at least five course credits during the terms. Four of the five course credits have to be graded with a traditional letter grade.
The Forest City Council at their June 15 meeting approved two city ordinances for a fuel surcharge and electric rate increase to help offset rising costs for the city.
The new rates begin July 1. The City purchases power from Dairyland Power Cooperative (DPC).

Ingrid Neuhaus of Forest City has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the spring semester of the 2025-26 academic year. Neuhaus, a graduate student working toward a Master of Professional Accountancy, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Business.
Riverland Community College is pleased to announce the students whose academic achievement placed them on the 2026 Spring president's and dean's lists.
To be eligible for the president's list, students must have completed six credits per semester and have earned a grade-point average of at least 3.75 on a 4.00 scale.

Zack Smith of Lake Mills won second place at the 2026 EntreFEST Pitch Competition held June 12 in Iowa City. The EntreFEST Pitch Competition brought together community leaders, founders, investors, and supporters to hear from five entrepreneurs as they competed for $15,000 in prize funding.
The Winnebago County Conservation Board will host public trap shooting this summer at the Florence Trap Shooting Range. The range is located at 42435 60th Ave., just south of Highway 9 between Thompson and Buffalo Center.
